George Russell took the top spot at the Austrian Grand Prix on Sunday, with Kimi Antonelli coming in third. The race was intense, with Red Bull’s Max Verstappen applying strong pressure throughout. Both Russell and Antonelli employed a two-stop strategy, starting on medium tires and switching to hard tires later in the race. Verstappen also used a similar strategy, managing to close the gap to Russell in the final stages. However, Antonelli put significant pressure on Verstappen in the last few laps, ultimately settling for third place. Russell controlled the race from the front, managing the final stint to secure the win. This victory narrows the gap in the drivers’ championship to 40 points, while the team maintains a 98-point lead in the constructors’ standings. The team will now head to Silverstone for the next race, looking to build on this momentum. Russell expressed his satisfaction with the result, praising the team’s strategy and his own ability to manage the car throughout the race. Antonelli, on the other hand, had a more challenging race, struggling with brake issues in the first stint but recovering well to take third place. Team principal Toto Wolff highlighted the intense pressure the team faced throughout the race, but praised Russell’s performance and the team’s ability to secure valuable points. Trackside Engineering Director Andrew Shovlin also praised the team’s strategy and the drivers’ performances, noting that the race could have gone either way if it had been one lap longer.
