An 85-year-old Florida man, William Bosworth, was arrested last month after allegedly street racing his “favorite car”—a 2006 Nissan 350Z—alongside a red 1998 Chevrolet Corvette on US 27 in Leesburg.
Bodycam footage from a June 12 traffic stop shows Bosworth, still puffing on a cigarillo, telling Lake County Sheriff’s deputies he was just out for a “little ride” when deputies clocked his 350Z at 110 mph in a 45 mph zone. The Corvette, driven by 57-year-old Philip Signorino, was recorded at 125 mph.

Both men denied street racing, with Bosworth claiming the Corvette driver swerved at him and Signorino insisting his C5 Corvette was “incapable” of hitting those speeds.
A 1997 Car and Driver test, however, lists the top speed of a 1998 Corvette Convertible at 167 mph, undermining Signorino’s claim.

Bosworth admitted to deputies he “used to drag race” and was familiar with high-performance cars, while Signorino reportedly told staff during booking, “the one that won.

The Corvette.” Both were charged with racing on a highway and operating a vehicle exceeding a speed limit by over 50 mph.
Bosworth pleaded not guilty and is scheduled for plea negotiations and sentencing in early August, while Signorino’s arraignment is set for July 1st.
