Tata Motors has launched the updated Punch in South Africa in partnership with Motus Holdings, with prices starting from R224,900 (Rs 12.86 lakh). The refreshed SUV brings revised styling, more standard equipment, and a new turbocharged petrol engine option, while the older Punch continues to be sold alongside it. The new lineup consists of three variants: Pure+, Adventure, and Accomplished+ S. The entry-level Pure+ starts at R224,900, followed by the Adventure at R244,900.

Both use a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 65 kW and 115 Nm, paired with a five-speed manual gearbox. The range-topping Accomplished+ S is priced at R269,900 (Rs 15.44 lakh) and introduces a 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine pushing out 88 kW and 170 Nm, matched with a six-speed manual gearbox. The new lineup is manual-only, meaning buyers gain a turbo option but lose the previous automatic choice. Dimensionally, the updated Punch has a length that increases by 49 mm to 3,876 mm, while width (1,742 mm), height (1,615 mm), and wheelbase (2,445 mm) remain unchanged.

Unladen ground clearance sits at 193 mm, and the fuel tank capacity is now 37 litres, up from 35 litres on the old model. Six exterior colours are available: First Light, Cliffside, Aloe Crimson, Cape Silverleaf, Kalahari Sunset, and Highveld Horizon, with contrasting-roof combinations for the top variant. Standard safety equipment has been significantly upgraded to include six airbags across the range and a five-star Bharat NCAP safety rating. The entry-level Pure+ comes equipped with LED headlamps, electronic stability control, hill-hold assist, tyre pressure monitoring, and ISOFIX child-seat mounts.

Convenience features on the base trim include an eight-inch Harman touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a reverse camera, cruise control, rear AC vents, a centre console with armrest, steering-mounted controls, all power windows, and a rear defogger. The Adventure variant adds a 360-degree surround-view camera, Blind View Monitor, automatic climate control, push-button start, electrically folding mirrors, automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, a rear wiper and washer, an air purifier, a cooled glovebox, and 15-inch Hyperstyle wheels. The top-spec Accomplished+ S features a 10.25-inch touchscreen, a seven-inch digital instrument cluster, 16-inch alloy wheels, LED DRLs, connected LED tail lamps, hill-descent control, ambient lighting, extended thigh-support seats, adjustable rear headrests, and a voice-assisted electric sunroof. Tata’s broader South African portfolio also includes the Tiago starting at R189,900, the Nexon-based Osprey priced from R249,900, the Curvv starting at R349,900, and the flagship Harrier priced at R549,900.
