Zhang Xue, the founder of Kove and ZXMoto, has secured a Guinness World Record by riding a modified ZXMoto MX450 40.74 kilometers (25.31 miles) across a river route. The record-setting run took place on October 25 in his hometown of Mayang Miao, Huaihua, located in China’s Hunan province. Xue completed six laps of the course before Guinness World Records officials, who verified the feat using GPS tracking, timing information, and audiovisual evidence before adjudicator Xiong Wen officially confirmed the record. Achieving the record required a dedicated five-month development program to refine the motorcycle’s buoyancy, power delivery, and waterproofing. Engineers and developers added flotation structures to keep both the bike and the rider safe in the event of a fall, while crucial components were sealed to prevent water from entering the engine. To successfully tackle the water route, the MX450 was equipped with a front ski for steering control, a rear paddle-style tire for steady propulsion, and revised power mapping. This successful attempt follows previous efforts by Xue, who first tried the stunt in 2009 among four total attempts. Prior to this successful run, his longest continuous water ride had reached just 20 meters. Xue shattered the previous world record of 31.8 kilometers (19.76 miles), outperforming the former benchmark by 5.5 miles.
