The third-generation BYD Qin Plus DM-i plug-in hybrid sedan has officially launched in China, bringing an electric range of up to 220 km and a starting price of 79,900 yuan (11,980 USD). This mass-market PHEV delivers a staggering combined range of up to 2,290 km.

Sporting BYD’s latest design language, the new Qin Plus DM-i features sharp headlamps, a trapezoidal air intake, traditional door handles, and a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor. The LiDAR is part of the optionally available God’s Eye B assisted driving system, enabling point-to-point autonomous navigation while the driver monitors the journey.

Dimensionally, the sedan measures 4840 mm in length, 1900 mm in width, and 1498 mm in height, riding on a 2,800 mm wheelbase. Inside, the cabin packs a 12.8-inch central display, a six-speaker sound system, ambient lighting, and automatic climate control. A gear shifter is positioned behind a two-spoke steering wheel, while the center console features dual wireless phone chargers, physical shortcut buttons, and a pair of cup holders. Exterior-wise, buyers can choose from nine different paint options, whereas the interior is offered in white or black color schemes.

Under the hood, the powertrain pairs a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine pushing 74 kW (99 HP) with an electric motor rated at 120 kW (161 HP). Energy storage comes from two LFP battery pack options: 16.2 kWh and 24.3 kWh. Depending on the battery specification, the pure electric range spans from 140 to 220 km under CLTC testing conditions. Overall mixed range hits 2,290 km, backed by a 65-liter fuel tank and a fuel consumption rate of 2.58 liters per 100 km when running on a drained battery.

The third-gen BYD Qin Plus DM-i is available across three distinct trim levels:
– BYD Qin Plus DM-i 140 km Leading: 79,900 yuan (11,980 USD)
