Honda Australia has dropped the first teaser for the next-generation Avancier, previewing a sharp-styled SUV positioned above the CR-V with a three-row, seven-seater layout. Set for a local market launch and rumored for Japan, production will reportedly take place in Thailand. The design language features horizontal and vertical tailgate LEDs, a simplified Honda emblem, an integrated roof spoiler, slim headlights reminiscent of the Range Rover Evoque, and sharp greenhouse lines. This new design direction is expected to roll out to future models like the next Civic and Accord.
Beneath the skin, the Avancier trades traditional e:HEV branding for new Honda Hybrid lettering in the teaser, signaling it as one of the first vehicles to adopt Honda’s next-generation self-charging hybrid setup arriving in 2027. The upcoming system aims to boost fuel economy by over 10% while slashing production costs by 30% compared to the previous setup. It is expected to center around an updated 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, potentially incorporating the Honda S+Shift system from the Prelude coupe.

The Avancier forms part of a broader push that will see 13 next-gen Honda hybrids debut between 2027 and 2031, as the automaker targets annual HEV sales of 2.2 million vehicles by 2030. In the market, the third-generation Avancier will face rivals including the Hyundai Santa Fe, Kia Sorento, Toyota Kruger (Highlander), Mazda CX-80, VW Tayron, and BYD Sealion 8. Additionally, Honda previously announced plans for a large North American SUV featuring a hybrid V6 powertrain.
