Ford To End China-Built Lincolns For US By 2030

Ford has announced that it will stop importing Chinese-built Lincoln vehicles to the US starting in 2030 and will expand US production to replace them. The current Lincoln Nautilus, which is assembled in Hangzhou, China, and exported to the US, is subject to a 52.5 percent US tariff. Ford plans to phase out imports of Chinese-built Lincoln vehicles and increase Lincoln production at US plants, but has not specified which plants or investment amounts will be involved. A new Ford assembly plant in Tennessee, scheduled to start production in 2029, is a possible candidate to build future Lincolns. The move is seen as a response to higher tariffs and new limits on Chinese-connected vehicle technology, and is part of a broader industry shift, with General Motors also planning to move production of the Buick Envision SUV from China to the US. Ford’s plan will involve shifting production of Lincoln crossovers, including the Nautilus, to the US, and the company will need to manage the transition without leaving dealers short on crossovers.
