Powerdot and Hubject have integrated Plug and Charge technology across more than 7,000 charging points in France, Spain, Belgium, and Poland. Based on the ISO 15118 standard, Plug and Charge enables electric vehicles and chargers to communicate automatically and securely, removing the need for charging apps, RFID cards, or other external authentication methods.

Drivers can simply plug in to start charging, similar to Tesla Superchargers. The integration utilizes Hubject’s public key infrastructure to securely authenticate digital certificates exchanged between vehicles, charging infrastructure, and mobility service providers.
Portugal-based Powerdot operates a network of roughly 13,000 charging points at 2,400 locations throughout Europe, focusing heavily on destination charging at long-dwell locations such as supermarkets, shopping centers, and restaurants. Powerdot operates on an open charging ecosystem, integrating with mobility platforms, e-mobility service providers, and car manufacturers without requiring a proprietary app.

Hubject CEO Christian Hahn and Powerdot CEO Luís Santiago Pinto both highlighted the partnership as a major step toward simplifying EV adoption and streamlining the charging experience at scale.
