Corvette ZR1X Sets New Pikes Peak Production Record, But Ford Wins Overall

The Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X has shattered the production-car record at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, blasting up the 12.42-mile (20 km) course in 9 minutes, 30.104 seconds—a full 23 seconds quicker than the previous benchmark.

Behind the wheel, JR Hildebrand piloted the all-wheel-drive supercar, which packs a 5.5-liter V8 and a front-mounted electric motor to deliver a combined 1,250 horsepower (932 kW / 1,267 PS).

The ZR1X’s road-going roots are evident, retaining a stock exhaust and Michelin Cup 2R tires from its ZTK Performance Package, proving its race-ready credentials are essentially showroom spec. The 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) sprint clocks in at 1.89 seconds when equipped with the top-tier package. Chevrolet has stayed tight-lipped about the achievement, but the numbers speak for themselves.

Meanwhile, Emelia Hartford claimed the ‘Queen of the Mountain’ title, becoming the fastest woman ever to summit Pikes Peak in a 2026 Corvette with a time of 10:11.018, slicing 6.5 seconds off Laura Hayes’ previous record.

Ford, however, stole the spotlight with an overall victory as Romain Dumas piloted the Super Mustang Mach-E to a dominant 8:18.202, more than 11 seconds ahead of runner-up Robin Shute.

The tri-motor electric beast boasts a 50 kWh battery pack and churns out over 1,400 horsepower (1,044 kW / 1,419 PS), underscoring Ford’s relentless push in the EV performance space.
