Ford has issued a recall affecting nearly 5,000 customers who own a Bronco Sport or Maverick. The issue lies in the lower control arm ball joints, which may not have been assembled correctly.

If they fail while driving, drivers could lose steering control, significantly increasing the risk of a crash. The recall impacts 2021 to 2026 models, and owners are advised to check online to see if their vehicle is included.

If it is, the vehicle will be towed to a dealership for inspection and repair, which will be done at no cost to the customer. Rentals are also available at no cost to owners of vehicles that fail the inspection.
Ford has not yet posted the recall with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, but dealers will visually inspect the front lower control arm ball joint assembly and repair it as necessary. The automaker does not have a fix at the moment, and repairs will be made at a future date.
