McLaren has confirmed that the 750S will end production in 2027, and a giant kiwi bird sculpture recently placed in London’s Covent Garden by the automaker may have just leaked the details of its replacement. Spotted by Autocar, the artwork features the lettering “McL 820” printed in orange text, pointing to a potential name and performance figure for next year’s supercar.
Assuming the branding follows McLaren’s typical numbering system, 820 metric horses equates to 809 horsepower, which would give it a 70 HP bump over the outgoing 750S. This output also puts it within striking distance of the 819 HP Ferrari 296 GTB, though McLaren is expected to stick with a twin-turbocharged V8 rather than Ferrari’s V6 setup.

The new naming convention adopts the “McL” prefix seen earlier this year on the limited-series $1.5 million McL 6GT, which features McLaren’s first manual transmission since the F1 of the 1990s. Beyond the upcoming supercar, McLaren is undergoing a major corporate overhaul under the ownership of Abu Dhabi investment fund L’imad.
The shift includes plans to build an SUV to rival the Lamborghini Urus and top-tier Porsche Cayennes, alongside the construction of a second UK factory and plans to assemble its engines in-house rather than subcontracting to Ricardo.
