Apple and Schneider Electric have teamed up to unveil a new smart thermostat co-developed for the Apple Home Collection. Set to debut in the US and Canada in early 2027 alongside optional room sensors, Schneider lists suggested prices of $199.99 for the thermostat and $39.99 for the sensors, while Apple has announced prices four cents lower for each. For comparison, an ecobee smart thermostat ranges between $139.99 and $259.99, and a Google Nest smart thermostat costs between $99 and $280. The device operates natively through the Apple Home app without needing a separate app or account, and users can adjust temperatures using Siri. The standout capability is Apple’s Adaptive Temperature feature, which leverages iPhone intelligence to automatically adjust heating and cooling according to whether you are home, away, or turning in for the night, eliminating manual programming. Additionally, the Clean Energy Guidance feature can shift heating and cooling to cleaner, lower-cost periods for customers on compatible utility plans in the contiguous US, while the Home app displays energy-use insights alongside peak and off-peak rate details. Optional room sensors measure temperature and humidity across different spaces, and the thermostats can also utilize built-in sensors from HomeView, HomePod, and HomePod mini. Connectivity-wise, Schneider’s thermostat supports Matter and Thread to maintain home network links during internet outages, while NFC pairing allows setup simply by bringing an iPhone close before the thermostat is powered. Home app data is end-to-end encrypted. Schneider additionally announced three magnetic power mounts for Apple’s new wall-mounted HomeView: a USB-C mount for $59.99, a hardwired AC mount for $79.99, and a Power over Ethernet mount for $129.99. The wired options feature in-wall cable concealment. The USB-C and AC mounts arrive in Apple stores on November 13, followed by the Ethernet version in early 2027, with Schneider planning to share further details at CES 2027 in Las Vegas.
