Toprak Razgatlioglu’s rookie MotoGP campaign with Pramac Yamaha has come to a premature end, with the 30-year-old rider ruled out for the final five rounds of the 2026 season. The three-time WorldSBK champion suffered a dislocated right shoulder in a heavy crash during the second free practice session at the Indonesian Grand Prix in Mandalika two weeks ago. Although he managed to ride in the sprint race and start Sunday’s Grand Prix, he was forced to retire after just eight laps due to a lack of strength in the arm. Following medical examinations in Milan, doctors confirmed that the injury is more serious than initially thought. Instead of waiting until the end of the year, Razgatlioglu will undergo surgery on October 26th. The Turkish rider, nicknamed ‘El Turco’, currently sits 21st in the championship standings with 18 points. With Maverick Viñales returning from his own injury absence, Razgatlioglu faces dropping further down the order. The early end to his season means he will miss the Australian Grand Prix at Phillip Island, a circuit where he enjoyed special moments during his Superbike career and a venue he was eager to tackle on a MotoGP machine. Commenting on the decision, Razgatlioglu expressed his deep disappointment at missing Phillip Island and explained that consultation with medical professionals and his inner circle confirmed surgery is the correct step for a 100 percent recovery and his future career. Yamaha test rider Augusto Fernandez will step in to replace Razgatlioglu for the remaining five rounds of the 2026 season.
