The author of the article had their first encounter with a Tesla Cybercab robotaxi prototype on the roads of West Hollywood.
The vehicle, which had a human driver, was described as looking like “sh*t” due to its comical proportions and awkward design.

The author criticizes the Cybercab’s narrow and tall greenhouse, rakish roofline, and tapering rear end, as well as its goofy wheels with a basic flat cover and gold paint on the tires. The vehicle’s panel gaps and build quality were also found to be lacking.

Despite Tesla’s claims that the Cybercab will begin sales to consumers by the end of the year, the author is skeptical due to the prototype’s poor build quality and the company’s history of struggles with its existing robotaxi fleet.
The Cybercab’s design and proportions are compared unfavorably to other vehicles, such as the Volkswagen XL1 and BMW i3, which have pulled off similar looks more successfully.
