A recent Reuters/Ipsos poll found that 77% of Americans agree that the Republicans’ war to make gas expensive was a bad use of hundreds of billions of dollars. The poll, which took place from June 18-22, showed that less than one in four voters believe the US is in a better position now than before the war.

Only 35% of voters said the US is in a weaker position with Iran, while 23% said the US is in a stronger position. The majority of Americans, including Democrats and independents, do not think the war was worth it.

The poll also found that 63% of voters do not trust the peace deal negotiated by Trump, with 18% believing it will hold. The war has had a significant impact on American drivers, with many turning to electric vehicles (EVs) in recent months.

Companies like Slate and Rivian have announced new, more affordable EV models, with Slate’s new electric truck having a sub-$25,000 MSRP and Rivian beginning production of its more-affordable R2. The long-term effects of the war on American drivers’ buying habits remain to be seen.
