A MINI Cooper D has reached the milestone of 1,000,000 kilometres, with its owner, Peter Kirchoff, achieving this feat in just 12 years. The car, which has been named ‘Nemo’, has been driven across Europe, covering over 25 countries, and has been remarkably reliable, with its original engine still intact and no major repairs. The fuel consumption of the vehicle has been impressively low, at 2.95 litres per 100 kilometres. Peter Kirchoff’s journey with Nemo began 30 years after his first driving lesson, and he configured the car to his personal preferences. The vehicle has become an integral part of his life, and he has documented his journey on Facebook, sharing driving data and analysis. The choice of destination to reach 1,000,000 kilometres was deliberate, with Oxford being the birthplace of the modern MINI and the heart of its production. The Head of Plants Oxford and Swindon, Markus Grüneisl, welcomed Peter and his MINI to the plant, stating that the milestone is a fitting tribute to the expertise and dedication of the team. Peter Kirchoff is now looking ahead to his next goal, the ‘One Million Miles Project’, and has expressed his commitment to the evolution of the MINI brand, even considering purchasing an Aceman JCW E if Nemo were to weaken. The story of Nemo is a testament to the character, efficiency, and driving fun that MINI stands for, and the company wishes Peter all the best for his next steps.
