Hyundai is already preparing a facelift for the fifth-generation Santa Fe, its third-best-selling model, which was unveiled in 2023 and went on sale in 2024. Camouflaged prototypes spotted testing reveal a passenger-side rear quarter panel fuel filler door, confirming they are fitted with Hyundai’s upcoming range-extender hybrid (EREV) powertrain.

The EREV model will feature a total range of 600 miles, utilizing a pair of electric motors for propulsion alongside a gas motor acting as a generator. While the boxy body remains largely unchanged except for potential fender insert tweaks, the front end will adopt a design similar to the new Tucson.

This includes tall blade-like running lights at the nose edges, an almost-full-width light bar, and hidden headlights in small pods, complemented by a chunkier, simpler front bumper and an expected tailgate light bar at the rear. Inside, the updated Santa Fe will feature Hyundai Motor Group’s new Pleos Connect infotainment system as part of a major dashboard and center console overhaul, pairing a large center touchscreen with a slim driver gauge display and additional physical controls.

Hyundai plans to unveil the facelifted Santa Fe in the first half of 2027, with an April reveal at the New York Auto Show considered likely. HMG has also confirmed EREV powertrains for the Genesis GV70 and Kia’s upcoming body-on-frame pickup.
