GT World Challenge Europe: Mercedes-AMG Motorsport Celebrates Podium and Early Driver Championship at Nürburgring

Mercedes-AMG Motorsport secured a podium finish and an early driver championship in the GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup at the Nürburgring. Jules Gounon, Daniel Juncadella, and Christopher Lulham from the Mercedes-AMG Team Verstappen Racing finished third in the three-hour race, while Lucas Auer, Maro Engel, and Luca Stolz from the Mercedes-AMG Team MANN-FILTER secured the driver championship with a fourth-place finish. The team started from seventh position and initially crossed the line in sixth, but moved up to fourth after penalties were imposed on two competitors. With a 27-point lead, the three Mercedes-AMG Performance drivers have secured the title before the season finale. This is the first time in the series’ history that drivers have won the Endurance Cup title early. Maro Engel and Luca Stolz have won their second driver title in the Endurance Cup, while Lucas Auer celebrates his first title after winning the overall and sprint championship in 2024. The Mercedes-AMG Team GetSpeed had a disappointing race, finishing fifth after starting from second position. The team’s #17 car had a strong performance in qualifying, but lost second place during the second pit stop due to a problem with the engine. The Mercedes-AMG GT3 #17 finished fifth. The GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup will continue with two sprint weekends in Zandvoort and Barcelona, followed by the season finale in Portimão.
