A shadowy Jeep SUV flashed across Stellantis’ 2026 Investor Day slides, teasing what could be the next-generation Renegade. The image—just a front three-quarter tease—offered no specs, but the boxy, upright silhouette screams subcompact SUV DNA, a segment Jeep has been missing in the US since 2023 and Europe since 2025 after the old Renegade’s Melfi plant shutdown. Stellantis’ own slide didn’t name the model, but the speculation dial is pegged to max: this looks like the Renegade’s spiritual successor. The next Renegade is expected to ride on Stellantis’ STLA One platform, covering mild-hybrid, full-hybrid, and full-electric flavors.

Timing is murky. Stellantis’ original DareForward plan penciled the Renegade’s return for 2027, but the updated FaSTLAne 2030 strategy has shuffled priorities. Still, Jeep’s global roadmap through 2030 keeps the subcompact slot alive, especially in Europe where small SUVs still move metal. The teaser’s design language—chunky, upright, and boxy—feels like an evolution of the current Renegade’s rugged aesthetic, with a high-riding nose, illuminated seven-slot grille top, and a vertical rear end that hints at off-road chops.

Big wheels and sharp lighting cues look straight out of a concept book, so expect heavy production filtering. If this is the Renegade, it’s not just a refresh—it’s a statement. Jeep needs a subcompact with curb appeal to stand out against the Compass and Avenger, and this tease suggests it’s leaning into bold, retro-futuristic cues. No price, no power numbers, no firm on-sale date—just a silhouette and a lot of questions.

But the absence of a Compass-sized gap in Jeep’s lineup for long suggests the Renegade’s return isn’t just likely; it’s inevitable.
