According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the problem occurs when the transmission is in Reverse and the engine is running, causing the parking brake to not engage properly. The issue was discovered after a report of a CC850 rolling away in the US on October 12.

Koenigsegg has issued a recall and will provide a free over-the-air software update to resolve the issue. The update can be installed remotely or at an authorized dealership.

The CC850 features Koenigsegg’s part-manual, part-auto nine-speed Lightspeed transmission, which can be operated with a traditional clutch pedal or as a typical automatic. The recall is not related to any Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, but rather a precautionary measure taken by Koenigsegg.
