Honda has confirmed that the Type R HRC Concept, which debuted at the Tokyo Auto Salon, is in development for the US market. The car is expected to make its US debut at SEMA, alongside other Honda models such as the Passport Baja Spec Trophy Truck and the Hasport Prelude Club Racer.

The HRC Civic Type R is expected to feature a more aggressive front bumper, aerodynamic winglets, and a serious rear spoiler, which should provide additional downforce. The car’s 2.0L inline-four engine currently produces 315 HP (319 PS) in US trim, and it’s unclear whether HRC will be able to liberate any more power.
