Bridgestone has pulled the cover off its all-new BATTLAX ADVENTURE A42 motorcycle tire, designed specifically as an on-road-oriented adventure tire geared toward long-distance touring. Developed under the concept of being the answer to road-going adventurers, the A42 follows the previous BATTLAX ADVENTURE A41 while delivering improvements across nearly every measurable metric. The tire is built to serve riders handling everything from city streets to expressways and winding roads, aiming to offer an optimal balance of wet-and-dry weather performance, extended wear life, and low tire noise.
Performance-wise, the BATTLAX A42 reduces tire slip ratio under straight-line acceleration by 14% compared to its predecessor. It also delivers significantly longer tread life at both positions, boasting an 18% increase in life at the front and a 25% increase at the rear. Furthermore, the tire features a larger contact patch engineered to enhance riding stability and comfort, alongside initial testing showing a 15% reduction in tire noise relative to the older model.
To achieve these gains, Bridgestone utilized new tread compounds and an adventure-inspired tread pattern. The front tire compound incorporates a flexible polymer to maximize road-surface grip, while the rear compound relies on a polymer designed to improve wear resistance and mileage. Both front and rear compounds feature optimized silica and carbon content to balance wet weather performance with longevity.
The A42 inherits design traits from the latest BATTLAX lineup, showcasing an aggressive tread pattern tailored for adventure bikes. It integrates Pulse Groove water drainage technology and increases pattern stiffness via a revised groove layout. According to Bridgestone, the BATTLAX ADVENTURE A42 is scheduled to launch on the Japanese domestic market on February 1, 2027.
