The iconic stainless-steel bodied and gullwing-doored sportscar brand DeLorean is campaigning a DeLorean-branded eVTOL in the new Airspeeder racing series. Matt Pearson, Founder and CEO of Airspeeder, noted that DeLorean is the original flying car brand. For the current setup, DeLorean will race a spec Airspeeder Mk3C chassis. For the 2027-28 season, the company will reportedly work with student engineering teams from UC Berkeley and Georgia Tech to design an all-new eVTOL racer. Elon Musk’s Tesla has notably drawn inspiration from DeLorean, featuring falcon-wing doors on the Model X, a stainless steel finish on the Cybertruck, and promised hover abilities for the Tesla Roadster 2.0. Meanwhile, DeLorean’s lineup also features the Alpha5 EV, a gull-winged sport coupe that accelerates from 0 to 88 mph in 4.35 seconds, and a DMC-12 EV conversion kit by Electrogenic.
