Honda has sold 15 million Accords in the United States, a landmark figure that cements the sedan’s status as America’s best-selling passenger car over the past five decades. The milestone car, a 2026 Accord Sport-L Hybrid, was delivered to Andrea, a customer in Southern California. On the same day, her younger sister, Alondra, took delivery of the 15,000,001st Accord sold in the U.S.

More than 13 million Accords have been built in Ohio since U.S. production began in 1982. The Accord remains one of America’s most popular sedans, consistently praised for durability, efficiency, value, safety, and reliability. Honda notes that the hybrid version now accounts for more than half of all Accord sales.

The milestone underscores the Accord’s deep roots in American car culture, even as it avoids the flash of halo models or viral drag-race fame. Honda’s assistant vice president of national auto sales, Jessika Laudermilk, said, “On behalf of Honda associates here in America and worldwide, I want to express our sincere appreciation and gratitude to the 15 million customers who purchased an Accord, including Andrea and Alondra. As we celebrate the 50th anniversary of Accord, together with Honda dealers nationwide, we are committed to building on the quality, reliability and enduring fun-to-drive spirit of Accord for the next 50 years.” The Accord’s success has influenced rivals like Toyota to make the Camry a hybrid-only lineup and pushed Kia and Hyundai to extend warranty coverage beyond Toyota and Honda, reflecting the sedan’s outsized impact on the industry.
