BMW’s $580,000 V8 Shooting Brake Spied Fully Exposed

BMW’s upcoming Speedtop shooting brake has been caught on camera in near-final form, confirming the production model will mirror last year’s concept almost exactly.

Limited to just 70 units, the Speedtop is priced at over €500,000 ($580,000 at current exchange rates) and is believed to already have all units allocated.

The car’s design remains faithful to the 2023 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este concept, featuring a twin-turbo V8 powertrain, a sleek shooting-brake roofline, and a cabin lifted from the 8-Series with bespoke touches.

Spy shots reveal a front end dominated by BMW’s signature kidney grille with bright surrounds and horizontal slats, flanked by slender LED headlights and a pronounced hood.

The greenhouse features a metallic surround incorporating the door pulls, while the rear end sports angular reflectors, revised bumpers, and parking sensors.

The interior is expected to carry over the 8-Series layout but with upgraded materials, including a leather headliner and cargo area.

Under the hood, the Speedtop is expected to use the same twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 found in the Skytop, producing 616 horsepower (460 kW / 625 PS), mated to an eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive.

BMW claims this setup enables a 0–62 mph (0–100 km/h) sprint in around 3.3 seconds, though the automaker has not confirmed these figures for the Speedtop.

The production model’s rear end has been lightly revised compared to the concept, with subtle changes to the bumper and reflectors, while the wheels—though unique—may still be near-final prototypes.

Despite the lack of interior shots, the Speedtop’s cabin is anticipated to blend 8-Series luxury with exclusive finishes, aligning with its ultra-exclusive positioning.
