The upcoming 2028 Mercedes–AMG GT SUV borrows its electric powertrain lineup from its four-door sibling, offering three distinct variants. The entry-level GT53 packs a dual-motor setup delivering 536 horsepower. Stepping up, the GT55 adopts three axial-flux motors cranked up to a combined 805 horsepower, while the range-topping GT63 unleashes a peak output of 1153 horsepower. In terms of styling, the GT SUV takes heavy inspiration from the GT 4-door model, sporting six round taillights mounted on a black panel and a modern take on AMG’s Panamericana grille complete with illuminated surrounds and a prominent Mercedes star. Dimensionally, the GT SUV matches up closely with AMG’s gas-powered mid-size SUV, the GLE63. On the featured European-market example, the charging port sits hidden behind a pop-up panel on the right rear fender, though the U.S. version is expected to utilize a NACS port. The Mercedes-AMG GT SUV is slated to arrive in showrooms by the end of 2027.
