Installing a 10,000-pound winch on a Porsche Cayenne isn’t for the faint of heart. The 958-generation Cayenne’s bumper had to come off—an eight-hour ordeal involving 120 fasteners, headlight removal, and wrestling with unlevel ground without jackstands.

The winch itself bolted up cleanly once the mounting plate was in place, but the real challenge was cutting a precise hole in the bumper for the fairlead.

Using long bolts coated in anti-seize paste to mark the pilot holes, the author freehanded the cut—almost perfectly.

Wiring the winch to the battery and tucking the harness under the engine cover made the install look factory-clean.

The only visible changes are the fairlead plate and a missing grille slat for access to the winch’s free-spool lever.

A set of Borne Off Road’s seven-inch rally lights were added to the bumper bar but may be too large for the application.
