According to Experian data analyzed in the Q2 2026 State of the Automotive Finance Report, Ford Motor Company ranks near the top for total vehicles currently on U.S. roads across all model years, holding a 15.4 percent market share that ties the company for second place with Toyota. GM leads the segment at 20 percent.
However, data tracking market share evolution since Q1 2009 shows that both Ford and GM have actually lost market share over this period, while Toyota and every other manufacturer on the list have gained ground. Despite this historical shift, Ford vehicles remain highly common on American roads, with several individual models leading the rankings in the second quarter of this year.

The Ford F-150 led the overall rankings with a 3.7 percent market share, maintaining a solid lead over the second-place Chevy Silverado 1500 at 2.8 percent. Meanwhile, the Ford Explorer and Ford Escape each registered a 1.2 percent market share, holding steady from the previous quarter.
The Ford Super Duty F-250 secured the number 15 spot with a 1.1 percent market share, tying with the Jeep Grand Cherokee, Nissan Rogue, and Nissan Altima.
