Electric Mercedes-Benz GLC Named German Premium Car of the Year 2027

The electric Mercedes-Benz GLC has been crowned German Premium Car of the Year 2027. The prestigious German Car of the Year (GCOTY) award ceremony took place at The Loh Collection national automobile museum, where the jury praised the electric SUV for its cohesive overall concept and balanced, comfortable driving dynamics. This accolade highlights the ongoing success of the GLC lineup, which serves as the global bestseller for Mercedes-Benz. The new electric variant translates the core qualities that made the model a worldwide customer favorite into the era of electromobility, featuring an independent design language and intuitive digital intelligence.

The electric GLC is engineered for long-distance comfort, everyday usability, and a user-centric experience. Highlights include the optional AIRMATIC intelligent air suspension, rear-axle steering with 4.5 degrees of articulation, a generous spatial layout featuring a 128-liter frunk, and a towing capacity of up to 2.4 metric tons. Inside, the optional immersive MBUX Hyperscreen spans 99.3 centimeters, making it the largest display offered by Mercedes-Benz. Powered by the Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS), it integrates infotainment, comfort features, charging, and driving assistance while supporting Over-the-Air updates via the Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Cloud.

Advanced driver assistance systems are bundled under MB.DRIVE, including standard equipment like DISTRONIC distance assist and parking assist, with optional packages extending capability up to SAE Level 2 assisted automated driving and a 360-degree parking view. The GCOTY jury consists of German automotive journalists, expert content creators, international jurors, and a selected group of guest jurors introduced in 2026. The award win coincides with the Mercedes-Benz anniversary year celebrating 140 years of innovation, dating back to Carl Benz patenting the first automobile and Gottlieb Daimler building the motorized carriage.
