Harley-Davidson has just unveiled the 2026 Deadwood, a stripped-down cruiser that channels the rebellious spirit of post-WWII America and the raw energy of the Wild West. Priced at $17,999, the Deadwood slots into the Softail lineup as a back-to-basics machine with a heavy dose of attitude.

The bike’s design is a love letter to the bobber culture of the 1940s and 1950s, when returning GIs stripped down their war-surplus Harleys for maximum thrill and minimal fuss. The visual inspiration comes straight from Deadwood, South Dakota—a town steeped in outlaw lore and forever tied to the Sturgis Rally.

The result is a motorcycle draped in Denim Black paint with minimal chrome, a short windshield, wire-spoke tubeless wheels, and a tank-mounted analog speedometer. Harley-Davidson Head of Design Bjorn Shuster puts it plainly: “The Deadwood motorcycle embodies that spirit of rebellion and individualism that was so prevalent following World War II.” Under the skin, the Deadwood runs Harley’s Milwaukee-Eight 117 Classic V-twin, a 117ci (1923cc) air-and-oil-cooled powerhouse tuned for a broad, manageable torque curve.

It delivers 98 horsepower at 4600 rpm and 120 lb-ft of torque at 2500 rpm, paired with a 6-speed Cruise Drive transmission and a wet multiplate clutch with assist. The chassis keeps things simple but effective: a non-adjustable Showa Dual Bending Valve 49mm fork up front and a spring-preload adjustable rear shock, both riding on 16-inch wire-spoke wheels wrapped in Dunlop D401 rubber.

Braking comes courtesy of a 300mm front disc with a 4-piston caliper and a 292mm rear disc with a floating 2-piston caliper, all backed by standard ABS. Rider aids include three ride modes—Sport, Road, and Rain—along with cornering-aware ABS, traction control, and engine drag torque control.

A USB-C charging port keeps devices topped up. The Deadwood’s dimensions are classic cruiser: a 64.2-inch wheelbase, 30-degree rake, 5.8 inches of trail, and a 26.5-inch seat height.

It tips the scales at 686 pounds and sips fuel at an estimated 47 MPG, thanks to a 5-gallon tank. The bike will make its public debut on August 7 at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, parked at Harley-Davidson’s event headquarters.
