Corvette ZR1X Loses to Lucid Air in Drag Races, Despite More Horsepower

The Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X, a hypercar slayer, has been beaten by the Lucid Air Sapphire in a series of drag races. Despite having more horsepower, the Corvette struggled to match the Lucid’s acceleration due to its lower torque output.

The Lucid Air Sapphire, with its all-electric power and 1,430 lb-ft of torque, was able to pull away from the Corvette in both the quarter-mile and eighth-mile races. The Corvette’s heavier weight, at 5,336 lbs, also hindered its performance.

The Lucid Air Sapphire’s advantages off the line were evident in both races, with the Corvette struggling to put all of its power to the ground. Even in a rolling race, the Corvette was unable to keep up with the Lucid.

The results are not unexpected, given the Lucid’s significant torque advantage. The Lucid Air Sapphire’s performance is a testament to the benefits of all-electric power in a high-performance vehicle.
