The Nissan Pathfinder is celebrating its 40th anniversary with a new Special Edition trim for the 2027 model year, bringing a host of heritage-inspired design touches and upgraded equipment. Nissan has officially moved 2 million Pathfinders since the nameplate debuted in 1986 for the 1987 model year. The 2027 Pathfinder Special Edition goes on sale next month, with front-wheel-drive models starting at $48,965 and all-wheel-drive variants kicking off at $50,965, positioning the anniversary trim near the higher end of the lineup below the Platinum and Premium trims. Inside, the Special Edition features a bold two-tone black-and-burgundy interior spanning the seats and door panels, directly referencing the upholstery of the original 1987 model. An embossed graphic on the passenger-side dashboard highlights the special trim alongside the vehicle’s debut date. Exterior tweaks include heritage-inspired upper air intakes on the front grille accented in burgundy, a matching badge on the C-pillar, and burgundy-accented Pathfinder lettering across the tail. Standard kit includes black 20-inch wheels, a panoramic sunroof, a 12-speaker Bose audio setup, second-row captain’s chairs, and rear door sunshades. Under the hood lies a 3.5-liter V-6 pumping out 284 horsepower, mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission. While standard Pathfinder models max out at a 3500-pound towing capacity, the Special Edition comes with an upgraded towing package that boosts that limit to 6000 pounds.
