Cadillac’s 2026 Optiq-V is a 519-horsepower electric crossover that refuses to fit neatly into any single category. After a week behind the wheel, it’s clear this isn’t your typical luxury SUV—nor is it a hardcore performance machine.
Instead, it occupies a fascinating middle ground, blending sharp styling, athletic driving dynamics, and a surprisingly practical cabin with a price tag that demands serious consideration. The Optiq-V starts at $67,300, but as tested, it rings up at $78,526 including a $1,495 destination charge.
For that, you get a dual-motor all-wheel-drive electric powertrain paired to a single-speed automatic, churning out 519 HP (387 kW) and a staggering 650 lb-ft (880 Nm) of torque. That thrust is delivered with authority, making the Optiq-V quick off the line and composed in corners, even if it doesn’t quite match the outright acceleration of the fastest EVs on the market.
Range is rated at 278 miles (447 km) per EPA estimates, though that drops to 250 miles (402 km) with optional summer tires. Fuel economy sits at 103 MPGe in city driving, 81 MPGe on the highway, and 92 MPGe combined.

The crossover’s dimensions are substantial: 190.0 inches long, 75.3 inches wide, and 65.0 inches tall, with a curb weight of 5,500 lbs (2,495 kg). It’s on sale now.
Styling is where the Optiq-V truly stands out. Despite its crossover roots, it wears angular sheetmetal, sharp lighting signatures, and a tasteful mix of black and bright trim that feels modern and upscale without veering into excess.

Cadillac’s latest design language is still finding its footing, but the Optiq-V does a lot to reinforce the brand’s contemporary identity. There are quirks—the dual-spoiler arrangement feels gimmicky, and the reverse pop-out door handles, while functional, are more annoying than clever.

But overall, the Optiq-V looks distinctive and appropriately premium. The cabin, however, is a study in contrasts.

It impresses with rich leather upholstery, attractive contrast stitching, and supportive seats with massage functions. Physical climate controls remain, a rarity in today’s touchscreen-heavy interiors, and the center console hides clever storage solutions, including a hidden wireless charging area.

Yet, there’s too much piano black plastic—on the steering wheel, trim, and elsewhere—that looks great in photos but shows every fingerprint in real life. The blue accent trim and chrome-look plastic add visual interest but feel less premium than they appear.
Technology is solid: the infotainment system responds quickly, menus are logical, and navigation is straightforward. The haptic controls around the rotary dial are less convincing—since you still need to look down to confirm inputs, traditional buttons would be more intuitive.

Still, the presence of a physical volume knob is a welcome touch. Visibility is excellent in all directions, and rear-seat passengers enjoy a surprisingly premium experience with generous legroom, USB ports, air vents, and seatback storage.

Cargo space behind the second row measures 26 cubic feet, with additional storage beneath the floor. The Optiq-V’s driving dynamics are where it truly shines.
It doesn’t behave like a traditional luxury crossover or a hardcore performance machine. Instead, it drives like an electric hot hatch stretched skyward to meet modern buyer expectations.
The steering is responsive, the body control is composed, and the powertrain delivers instant torque with minimal drama. It’s quick, sure-footed, and engaging—qualities that make it hard to categorize.

That ambiguity is part of its appeal. In a crowded EV market, the Optiq-V doesn’t chase headlines or try to be the fastest, the plushest, or the most tech-laden.

It’s a thoughtful blend of performance, practicality, and style, wrapped in a package that’s as intriguing as it is polarizing. Whether it’s the right choice depends on what you value most: outright capability, luxury, or something in between. But one thing is clear—Cadillac has built a crossover that refuses to be ignored.
