Toyota’s new GR GT3 race car snarls on track with a twin-turbo V8

Toyota has confirmed a new supercar that will spawn a dedicated GT3 race variant, the GR GT3, and a new video has revealed its ferocious soundtrack.

The GR GT3 is powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine built to FIA GT3 regulations, and the clip—shared by Instagram user khuritzz and UK-based Car Magazine—captures the race car blasting past a bus with sharp bursts of acceleration while the V8 snarls and the turbos scream.

Toyota says the road-going GR GT is targeting 640 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque, while the race-focused GR GT3 ditches the road car’s eight-speed automatic for a sequential gearbox.

The GR GT3 also packs aggressive aero add-ons including a front splitter, a large rear wing, and fender louvers, plus a stripped-out cabin with carbon-backed Recaro bucket seats.

The GR GT and GR GT3 were unveiled in December 2025, and the road-going GR GT is expected to reach dealerships in late 2027.

The car rides on an all-aluminum frame and wears body panels made from carbon fiber-reinforced plastic and aluminum. Inside, Toyota emphasizes a driver-focused layout that won’t appear in the race version.
