Honda’s Cheapest EV Has A Boost Button That Cuts Its 0-62 Time By Over 4 Seconds

Honda’s kei-derived EV, the Super-N, is set to go on sale in the UK this summer with a price tag of £18,995, making it the cheapest EV in Honda’s European lineup.

The Super-N is a compact electric hatch based on Japan’s Super-One kei car and draws inspiration from the iconic 1980s City Turbo II. It measures 3,599 mm long and 1,573 mm wide, yet can accommodate four adults.

The Super-N has a fold-up ‘magic’ rear seat base, similar to the Honda Jazz, and features a compact e-Axle producing 63 HP in normal driving mode.

However, with the BOOST button engaged, output jumps to 94 HP, cutting the 0-62 mph time from 14.5 seconds to 10.0 seconds. The Super-N also features a simulated seven-speed transmission and an artificial engine soundtrack.

With a 29.6 kWh battery, the Super-N has a WLTP combined range of 128 miles, although urban driving can stretch that to 199 miles. Fast charging to 80 percent takes around 30 minutes. The Super-N comes standard with a Bose audio system and CarPlay/Android Auto-enabled infotainment.

Honda plans to offer multiple exterior graphics packages to make the little box stand out even more.
