BMW M Hybrid V8 Scores Points at Lone Star Le Mans in Austin

BMW M Team WRT experienced a challenging start to the second half of the FIA World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC) at the Lone Star Le Mans in Austin, Texas. The #15 BMW M Hybrid V8 finished eighth, while the #20 Shell BMW M Hybrid V8 finished twelfth. Despite the disappointing results, Robin Frijns and René Rast maintained their lead in the drivers’ standings. The 6-hour race was marked by intense heat and high humidity, which affected the performance of the BMW M Hybrid V8s. The #15 car, driven by Kevin Magnussen, Raffaele Marciello, and Dries Vanthoor, started from eleventh on the grid and worked its way up to the top-5 before finishing eighth. The #20 car, driven by Frijns, Rast, and Sheldon van der Linde, finished twelfth. In the LMGT3 class, both BMW M4 GT3 EVOs ran into trouble early in the race, with car number 69 finishing eleventh and car number 32 finishing 16th. BMW M Motorsport remains in second place in the manufacturers’ standings with 131 points, nine points behind Toyota.
