The Porsche 911 Turbo has been a benchmark for performance and luxury for 51 years, but its price has skyrocketed over the decades.

In 1976, the 911 Turbo cost $25,975, which is equivalent to $166,495 in 2026 dollars, adjusted for inflation.
Fast forward to 2026, and the 992-generation Turbo S starts at a staggering $272,650, with a hybrid drivetrain and 701 horsepower.

The median family income in the US has increased from $13,720 in 1975 to $83,730 in 2026, but the price of the 911 Turbo has outpaced wage growth.
In fact, it would take over 3.25 years of median family income to afford the 2026 911 Turbo S, compared to just two years in 1976.

The current 911 Turbo S boasts impressive specs, including a 0-60 time of 2.2 seconds and a top speed of 200 mph, but its price is more than double that of the standard Carrera 2, which starts at $137,850.
The 911 Turbo’s price has increased by a factor of 10 since 1975, mirroring the trend of other high-performance cars like the Corvette and Mustang.
Porsche’s decision to introduce hybrid technology and advanced features has contributed to the price hike, but it’s also a reflection of the broader trend of increasing car prices over the past few decades.
