As the owner of Whitney Auto Service in Southern California’s San Fernando Valley, I put the 2026 Yamaha Ténéré 700 to the test as a commuter bike.
With its seat height of 34.4 inches, it’s a tall bike, but I found it comfortable to ride, despite being only 5’6″.
The Ténéré 700 is a beast on the freeway, handling high speeds with ease and making it easy to overtake cars. Its maneuverability and dirt bike-like handling make it perfect for filtering through traffic.
However, I did find the fuel gauge to be a bit of an issue, as it would read low fuel when I still had around 40 miles left in the tank.
Despite this, I enjoyed riding the Ténéré 700 and found it to be a great bike for commuting, if you can handle the seat height.
The bike features a 689cc crossplane crankshaft parallel twin engine, 6-speed transmission, and a range of adjustable suspension and brake options.
With a price tag of $10,999 MSRP, it’s a great option for those looking for a versatile and capable commuter bike.
