Ram drops hybrid Hemi V8 and stop/start in 2027 Ram 1500

Ram is ditching the hybridized 5.7-liter Hemi V8 in the 2027 Ram 1500 lineup, replacing it with a naturally aspirated version that also loses the automatic stop/start system. The move was confirmed by a Ram spokesperson to Motor1 and aligns with the brand’s broader push to simplify its powertrain offerings. The non-hybrid 5.7-liter Hemi V8 now makes 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque in the 2027 Ram 1500 Rumble Bee trim. Ram will begin delivering non-eTorque 2027 models to dealerships this fall, though the automaker will still produce some 2027 Ram 1500s with the eTorque hybrid system depending on market and customer demand. The base price for the 2027 Ram 1500 now starts at $42,375, a $350 increase over the previous model year. The shift away from hybrid and stop/start tech follows federal rollbacks of emissions standards in February, which removed incentives for fuel-saving features like stop/start systems. While the EPA criticized stop/start technology as a source of consumer choice restrictions and hidden costs, Ram insists the feature will still be available in select markets and trims based on customer preference.
