Ford has maintained its status as a top global automaker despite recent challenges, particularly in China where competition has intensified. According to automotive analyst Felipe Munoz, Ford secured the sixth position in global market share for Q1 2026, capturing 4.42% of the total market.

The top five automakers were Toyota (12.7%), Volkswagen (9.4%), Hyundai (8.5%), Stellantis (6.4%), and General Motors (5.0%). Geely, a China-based automaker, narrowly trailed Ford with a 4.38% share, while BYD missed the top 10 by a single spot with 3.31%.

Ford’s global sales for Q1 2026 reached 899,400 units, marking a 3.8% decline compared to Q1 2025. This placed Ford fourth among individual brands, just behind Suzuki (902,000 sales) but far behind Toyota (2,263,683 sales), Volkswagen (1,137,183 sales), and Hyundai (933,984 sales).

In 2025, Ford Motor Company ranked seventh globally with 4,395,000 total sales. The data highlights the growing influence of Chinese automakers like Geely and BYD in the global market, even as their vehicles remain limited in availability outside key regions.
