Alpinestars T-SP X Superair Jacket Review: Summer Riding Perfected

The Alpinestars T-SP X Superair jacket is a $240 summer motorcycle jacket designed to keep riders cool in scorching Southern California heat.

Its standout feature is a mix of large mesh panels for maximum airflow and 600D polyester panels for abrasion resistance, making it suitable for 100°F+ conditions.

While it doesn’t vent as aggressively as full-mesh summer jackets, the Superair’s chassis feels like a proper motorcycle jacket—not just a lightweight drape—adding comfort and structure.

The jacket earns a CE Category II, A Class rating, placing it in the mid-tier of CE protection standards, ideal for most hot-weather riders.

Standard protection includes Alpinestars Nucleon Flex Plus CE Level 1 shoulder and elbow armor, with the option to add an Alpinestars Nucleon Kr-Celli CE Level 1 back protector, which is highly vented and barely noticeable.

The jacket is also compatible with Alpinestars Tech-Air 5 Plasma Airbag System and Tech-Air 3 System vest, though these weren’t tested. Fit is sporty with precurved arms, comfortable on both sport bikes and cruisers. Adjustable waist straps and cuffs allow for a personalized fit.

Storage includes two zippered hand pockets with mesh interiors and two vented interior pockets with hook-and-loop closures, easily accommodating a tri-fold wallet and an iPhone 17.
