Leapmotor, a Chinese EV startup partnered with Stellantis, has seen its sales nearly double in six months, thanks in part to a remarkably cheap lease deal in Germany. The Leapmotor T03, which starts at €18,900, can be leased for just €1,760 over three years, or €48.90 ($56) a month. This is made possible by generous EV subsidies in Germany, which can knock up to €6,000 ($6,800) off the price of a new EV for eligible families. The lease deal includes a mileage cap of 10,000 km (6,213 miles) per year, and at the end of the 36-month term, buyers can purchase the T03 outright for €11,139 ($12,700) or return the keys. Leapmotor attributes the competitive pricing to its high level of cost efficiency and vertical integration, as well as the German government incentives. The company has sold 356,487 vehicles globally in the first half of 2026, a 95 percent increase over the same period last year, and has sold over 1.55 million cars since its formation.
