BMW’s latest M2 with the M Performance Track Kit has just obliterated the Nürburgring Nordschleife lap record for its class, clocking a verified 7:25.068 on 22 May 2026. The time was stamped by TÜV Rheinland under punishing conditions: scorching ambient and track temperatures plus oil slicks in the T13 section turned the record attempt into a high-stakes gamble. The M2’s new benchmark beat the outgoing BMW M2 CS by a razor-thin 0.5 seconds, proving the M Performance Track Kit’s track-day credentials. The kit is a bolt-on arsenal of motorsport-grade hardware that keeps full road legality. Up front sits an adjustable front splitter and aero flicks; at the rear, a manually adjustable swan-neck wing with a dedicated Race Mode. Suspension duties fall to a coilover system packing motorsport dampers with road approval for the first time. The whole package was co-developed by BMW M’s wind tunnel and chassis gurus, including record-setting test pilot Jörg Weidinger, to squeeze every last millisecond out of the M2’s dynamic envelope. Jonas Krauss, Head of Product Management BMW M Performance Parts, calls it “uncompromising performance, perfectly tailored to the BMW M2” for weekend warriors chasing lap-time bragging rights.
