PLS Expands Freight Forwarding with AGL Acquisition

PLS Logistics Services has acquired The AGL Group, a Weymouth, Mass.-based international freight forwarder, in a deal that expands PLS’ international forwarding capabilities alongside its domestic freight services. The AGL Group will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of PLS Logistics, with Steve Zambo remaining CEO and reporting to PLS President Steven Bergan. The acquisition strengthens PLS’ market position, diversifies its customer base, and broadens its supply chain service offerings, including truckload, less-than-truckload, transportation management system, and managed services. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. According to Greg Burns, chairman and CEO of PLS Logistics Services, the acquisition adds international service capabilities, including ocean freight and customs brokerage, to PLS’ customer base. PLS Logistics, based in Cranberry Township, Pa., ranks No. 65 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest logistics companies in North America.
